Wildcats roar back into action! thumbnailThose pictured jointly winning the 2009 UK Children’s Coach of the award.

THE successful Wildcats Activ8 and NRGIZE sport and recreation clubs are returning in February.
'NRGIZE' is a fun sporting, recreation and social environment for the Borough's young teenage boys and girls which is unique to Coleraine, begins again on Saturday, February 6 while the award-winning Wildcats Activ8 Club leaps back into action, also in Coleraine Lesiure Centre.
Not all young people are members of sports specific clubs, so Coleraine Borough Council designed NRGIZE to bridge that gap. Roger Downey, Sports Development Officer at Coleraine Borough Council explains the concept.
“NRGIZE is a genuine sports and recreation club, however, it is not aimed at the potentially talented or elite young sports performers and is not designed to create such, but instead provides young people with the chance to interact socially using sport and recreation activities whilst playing comfortably at their own respective levels, with hope that each club member finds his or her own personal enjoyment from the many activities on offer," he said.
“This is relatively new and exciting territory and Council is privileged that Coleraine Lions is supporting what we are trying to achieve here in Coleraine."
Coleraine Lions President, Eamon Brolly, added: "We are delighted to support this Council initiative which was designed to benefit the young people of the town. Whilst Coleraine Lions is part of a worldwide Lions movement we are particularly active and interested in supporting local initiatives."
There are many activities on offer from scaling a mobile climbing wall, taking part in a soccer am challenge to archery. From week to week new and invigorating games will be introduced from the old favourites of badminton and table tennis to basketball and volleyball, with dance, boxercise, soccer circuits, dodgeball and spinning also available. Club members will also have the opportunity to decide what activities they want to see provided and these will be 'actioned' where possible.
