THE 2010 International North West 200 was launched on Tuesday at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast with the organisers announcing Relentless as the new title sponsor and Black Horse Finance, who already have a long association with the event, also come on board as associate sponsor.
A new North West 200 logo, designed by Pierce Communications and incorporating the Relentless and Black Horse brands, was also unveiled at the launch event which saw a number of top English and local riders including Steve Plater, John McGuinness, Alastair Seeley, Bruce Anstey, Ian Lougher, Michael Dunlop, William Dunlop and Michael Rutter in attendance.
Speaking at the launch Race Director Mervyn Whyte commented: "Each year, the North West 200 team works hard to ensure an even bigger and better event for riders and spectators alike.
“With a new title sponsor, refreshed brand and already strong line-up of competitors, we hope the 2010 Relentless International North West 200 in association with Black Horse will be a year to remember."
Changes to the management structure were also announced. Co-ordinated by Race Director Whyte, the structure now consists of seven managers, each responsible for various aspects of the event. However, Mervyn Whyte will have overall responsibility for the running of the event.
“After last year we sat down with DCAL, Coleraine Borough Council and NITB to discuss the way forward and it was agreed with the event becoming bigger every year that it was necessary to put a new structure in place," said Mervyn.
“We have seven managers in place now and each will deal with various aspects from safety to work on the course. They have now been named the 'Magnificent seven' and they are John Adams, Sean McCarry, Jonathan Gates, Stanleigh Murray, Alan Toms, John Creighton and John Wilson."
